Gun Rights Activists Protest Against Unconstitutional Gun Ban in Alpena

Take a stand with your fellow 1st District Patriots
Our right to keep and bear arms is in jeopardy! On Dec 7th, We the People will address the Alpena City Council regarding the horrendous “Disorderly Conduct” ordinance, specifically 54-2, which bars COMPLETELY, the possession of any firearm for any purpose, in ANY public place within the city of Alpena:

Sec. 54-2. Disorderly Conduct
(a) The following acts shall constitute disorderly conduct, and no person shall:

(6) Go armed with or have concealed upon his person, a dirk, dagger, sword, pistol, air gun, stiletto, metallic knuckles, pocket billie, sand bag, skull cracker, slingshot, razor or other offensive and dangerous weapon or instrument, unless such person is a police officer or night watchman, and is legitimately employed as such.

(b) As used in subsection (a) of this section, the term “public place” shall mean any street, alley, park, public building, or any place of business or assembly open to or frequented by the public.

This demonstrates blatant disregard for the rights enumerated in our state and federal constitutions, which ensure all citizens the right to “Keep and Bear Arms”. On the 7th of December we invite you to come and voice your opinion on this important issue. We can not let freedoms be taken away from our brothers and sisters in the first district. It is up to all of us to take a stand and fight for liberty and justice in the 1st district as well as the rest of the Country.

Join Thomas Matos (the man leading the charge on this issue in Alpena), Linda Goldthorpe, and other conservative-minded 1st district citizens on Dec 7th to protest this unconstitutional Gun Ban put in place by the city of Alpena. We will be meeting at 6:00 pm at the Alpena County GOP office (two blocks down from Stupak’s office by the way), and walking together to the City Hall which takes place at 7:00pm. Feel free to bring protest signs and banners, the more the better!

Also make sure to invite your friends/family, we need as many people there as we can, we can’t let an issue like this slide.

There is no reciprocity given to CPL (Concealed Pistol License) holders. MCRGOvs. Ferndale, and the 1990 Michigan Firearms Preemption Law strictly prohibits municipalities from regulating any firearm, part of a firearm, or ammunition. Warren was the latest to be confronted with an unlawful city ordinance and the City Attorney found it uninforceable, which led to the dissolution of the ordinance by a vote of 5 to 4.

I am alone here on this issue in Alpena. I have only been here 3 years and don’t really know anyone. I do not have a problem confronting this issue alone, but thought of you and your impeccable conservative stance and wish to extend an invitation to attend with me on Dec 7th, 2009…next Monday, at 7pm at city hall across from save-a-lot. Any citizen has 5 minutes to speak at the beginning of council proceedings. I am having my dissertation video taped. It will be posted on my Youtube account.

I am an NRA Certified Instructor, fmr Police Officer, fmr Hostage Rescue Instructor, fmr Dignitary Protection Specialist, and ARMY 11B veteran. It is clear, and have heard the same from the police chief, that it is surely legal for me to lawfully carry in public, a registered handgun in a holster. It MUST be in the open since I do not have, and cannot afford the high cost of a CPL. I have been open carrying for some time now without issue, and have had no run ins with LEO’s. The Chief explained to me in a cordial manner that he has trained his officers to respect my lawful open carry decision. However, the unlawful ordinance remains. It must go…to protect our 4th Amendment rights of unreasonable searches and seizures. Below is a link to some state laws.
