WHAT: “Listen U.P!”  A Common Sense State of the State from concerned citizens of the Northern Michigan.
WHO: The Northern Michigan Liberty Alliance, featuring citizen speakers who will offer examples of, and solutions to, how unreasonable, unresponsive and unmanageable state government has become.  Moderated by Dan Adamini.
WHERE: Besse Center, on the campus of Bay de Noc Community College, Escanaba, Michigan.
WHEN: Wednesday, February 3, 2010, Doors open at 6:30 event starts at 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
WHY: On February 3, 2010, Governor Jennifer Granholm will be giving another State of the State address.  If the empty pomp and circumstance and soaring rhetoric of past State of the State addresses are any indication, the Governor will not present any serious solutions to rid Lansing of the partisan politics that are crippling this great state.  Nor will the Governor focus on common sense solutions that families and businesses all throughout Northern Michigan desperately want and need.

Therefore, the Northern Michigan Liberty Alliance, which is a collection of like-minded, liberty-minded individuals from across Northern Michigan, who are not affiliated with any political party, have decided to host their own State of the State address.  In contrast to the Governor’s State of the State address however, which will be going on at the same time, the Liberty Alliance will focus on the issues affecting the special people of Northern Michigan and not the special interests in Lansing, and on common sense solutions to our common problems.

The public is welcome and encouraged to attend, not only to participate and share ideas as to how the people of Northern Michigan can rise up together to restore reason and rationale to state government, but to also send a message to Lansing that the people of Northern Michigan will no longer tolerate being a casualty to partisan politics.

Media inquiries should be directed to Tom Casperson, who is serving as the local contact for this event.  Mr. Casperson can be reached at: (517) 488-4306.
